Happy New Year!

It seems so neglectful to come in and post a recap of December and then a New Year greeting on the same day but honestly December really got away from me. It was an exceptionally good month though, in so many ways. Despite being pretty busy, as we all are, I feel completely rested from my two weeks holiday.

Happy New Year

I'm thrilled to wish you all a Happy New Year.

My positive colour for this year is yellow - an optimistic sunny shade that I will be wearing and maybe even decorating with.

I took this picture myself a few days ago:

My pencils are sharpened - these are one of my gifts to myself last Christmas - gorgeous colours of pencils made by Mitsubishi Pencil Co. for decades.

I have a crisp new Marimekko notebook for jotting ideas in, another Christmas present, lucky me, so spoilt.

And when I was dropping my aunty back at the airport I picked up a copy of the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson. A little post-holiday treat (as it was slightly expensive). I got it for several reasons

1. I have heard it mentioned often that successful people make a habit of studying other successful people - you can't get more successful than Steve Jobs, right?

2. I saw the author Walter Isaacson interviewed on Charlie Rose last year and really enjoyed his perspective. It was about another book but I think he's worth reading. I have that other book on my wishlist, Innovators.

3. My annual New Year bookshop visit - usually the one time I get to go to a real bookshop with English books - was cancelled due to my bestie-book-buddy's illness. It's been a tradition of ours for at least ten years to meet downtown on January 2nd, escape the Japanese New Year celebrations for a day, eat up large somewhere with Western food AND spend an hour or so laughing, giggling and swapping stories over books at Osaka's largest book store Junkudo. Next year we won't miss it.

4. Since I hadn't gone into the city, I justified spending some money on a book. After all I had saved two train fares, the cost of lunch and who knows what other shopping I might have done. New Year sales were on!

New Year Resolutions

I am not one for setting resolutions but I am trying to start the year being MINDFUL. Drastic changes never stick. So I am attempting to make small changes each day. The usual suspects have cropped up - to take better care of myself, get more sleep and exercise, lose some weight, curb reckless spending, be more present with the family.

A lot of exciting people and projects have come into my life in the past few months. I'm looking forward to sharing more about those as they evolve further. 2015 is looking marvellous and I am happy to share it with you, inspire you, motivate you, support you and be inspired, motivated and supported by you in return.

Thank you for being here.
